Hughson hasn't had much luck against Sutter recently, but that could start to change on Friday. Hughson will head out to square off against Sutter at 4:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Hughson comes in on five and Sutter on nine.
Hughson is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They walked away with a 6-1 win over Liberty Ranch.

Isaac Lupercio made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Hughson is 6-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 9-13 otherwise. Lupercio was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.
In other batting news, Tanner Ehlers was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run. Another player making a difference was Zayne Costa, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run.
Meanwhile, Sutter made easy work of Union Mine on Wednesday and carried off a 9-2 victory. Considering the Huskies have won 14 matchups by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Aiden Zwissig spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on four hits and racked up six Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Karter Johnson, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with four stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI. He continues to improve, besting his previous run total in each of the last three games he's played. Cole Callison was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and one stolen base.
Sutter hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in four consecutive games.
Hughson now has a winning record of 15-14. As for Sutter, their record is now 23-4.
Friday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Hughson has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .436. However, it's not like Sutter struggles in that department as they've averaged .471. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Hughson might still be hurting after the 18-8 loss they got from Sutter in their previous meeting back in March. Can Hughson avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
