Softball Recap: Lincoln North Star Triumphs

Lincoln North Star had lost three straight, but after bumping their record up to 3-7 on Friday that streak is in the rearview. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the North Platte Bulldogs, sneaking past 14-13. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Navigators have posted since October 5, 2024.

Olivia Knox was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Skyla Whitten was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

Lincoln North Star lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

As for North Platte, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-6. On the bright side, the 13- run performance marked their highest-scoring contest to date.

On North Platte's side, Danaka Jedrzejczyk led a balanced group of hitters, going 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Maleighya Harmon, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lincoln North Star will welcome Norfolk at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for North Platte, they will host Grand Island Central Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
