Taft is 5-0 against Delano since December of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Taft Wildcats will head out on the road to face off against the Delano Tigers at 6:30 p.m. Hopefully Taft focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Tuesday.
Taft scored the most points they've had all season to find success. Everything went their way against Wasco as Taft made off with a 63-39 victory.
Taft's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alaysia Taylor, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 17 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Taira Leota, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 17 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Delano had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They escaped with a win on Thursday against Wasco by the margin of a single free throw, 44-43. The win was just what Delano needed coming off of a 82-9 defeat in their prior game.
Taft's record now sits at 10-14. As for Delano, their victory ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-17.
Taft was able to grind out a solid victory over Delano in their previous matchup back in January, winning 40-28. The rematch might be a little tougher for Taft since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
