Vista PEAK Prep had lost five straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped down to 6-13 to make it six. They took a 9-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Denver South Ravens. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Ravens this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 18-16 back in August.
Vista PEAK Prep saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Laila Lucio, who went 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Rylie Camarillo was another, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
As for Denver South, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-10 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games.
On Denver South's side, Emma Gibson was a major factor no matter where she played. She pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits. What's more, Gibson posted five strikeouts, the most she's had since back in October of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and two doubles. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played.
In other batting news, Denver South let Kynley Price and Nici Montoya run wild. Price went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run, while Montoya went 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI. Those three hits gave Montoya a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Stella Dastin, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.
We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Vista PEAK Prep is set to challenge their familiar foe George Washington at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Denver South will square off against rival Thomas Jefferson at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
