The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Santana in their matchups with Steele Canyon: they've now lost four in a row.
It was another big night for Deanna Guerrero, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 14 rebounds for Steele Canyon. Guerrero hasn't dropped below ten rebounds for ten straight games. Brianda Benitez was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five assists and five steals.
Santana has traveled a rocky road recently having lost 14 of their last 15 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-21 record this season. As for Steele Canyon, their win was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Santana will face off against El Cajon Valley at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Steele Canyon, they will head out on the road to square off against Valhalla at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Steele Canyon has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 212 points over their last three matchups.
