The Santana Sultans's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their 13th straight defeat. They had to suffer through a rough 67-10 loss at the hands of Steele Canyon. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Santana in their matchups with Steele Canyon: they've now lost four in a row.
It was another big night for Deanna Guerrero, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 14 rebounds for Steele Canyon. Guerrero hasn't dropped below ten rebounds for ten straight games. Brianda Benitez was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five assists and five steals.
Santana has traveled a rocky road recently having lost 14 of their last 15 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-21 record this season. As for Steele Canyon, their win was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Santana will face off against El Cajon Valley at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Santana is facing El Cajon Valley at the right time seeing as El Cajon Valley is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Steele Canyon, they will head out on the road to square off against Valhalla at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Steele Canyon has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 212 points over their last three matchups.
