Baseball Recap: Prospect Snags Third Victory in Last Four Games

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Evergreen Valley, Prospect was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Hill Falcons a 10-0 shutout. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by six runs or more this season.

Hill's batters probably weren't too happy with Alex Hand, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 11 Ks (he gave up zero walks). Hand has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kevin-Joseph Rieden, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Prospect is undefeated when Rieden posts two or more runs, but 5-9 otherwise. Ethan Roth was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Prospect always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Prospect has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Hill, they dropped their record down to 3-16 with the defeat, which was their eighth straight on the road.
