Atwater and Buhach Colony are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2019, but likely not for long. The Falcons are taking a road trip to challenge the Thunder at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Atwater's pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so Buhach Colony's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Atwater's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Wednesday's struggle, when Patterson hitters got past them. The Falcons lost 11-1 to the Tigers on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Falcons have suffered since March 22nd.
Atwater got a good showing from Bryce Hernandez, who tossed four innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits.
At the plate, Landon Perez made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases and one run.
Meanwhile, Buhach Colony posted their closest win since March 19th on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out Los Banos 10-9. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Thunder.
Buhach Colony also got a great performance from Bryson Fainter as he tossed five innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off five hits. What's more, Fainter posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jacob Medina, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. He has become a key player for Buhach Colony: the team is 5-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-14-1 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Bennett Stoddard, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Buhach Colony kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Atwater's defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 17-7-1. As for Buhach Colony, their record is now 8-15-1.
Atwater came out on top in a nail-biter against Buhach Colony in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, sneaking past 5-4. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Falcons since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
