Livermore is 0-10 against De La Salle since April of 2015 but things could change on Tuesday. The Cowboys will host the Spartans at 4:00 p.m. Livermore is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.
On Wednesday, Livermore needed a bit of extra time to put away Monte Vista. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Mustangs, sneaking past 3-2.
The team relied heavily on Griffin Lee, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March.
Meanwhile, De La Salle entered their tilt with College Park on Saturday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They walked away with a 5-1 victory over the Falcons.
Cooper Barnes spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Antonio Castro was a standout: he went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Sullivan, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
De La Salle hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in six consecutive games.
De La Salle pushed their record up to 15-3 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Livermore, their win bumped their record up to 12-7.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Livermore has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like De La Salle struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Livermore might still be hurting after the 12-0 loss they got from De La Salle when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Will the Cowboys have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more baseball content.
