Pepperell and Cedartown are an even 4-4 against one another since March of 2015, but likely not for long. The Pepperell Dragons will be playing at home against the Cedartown Bulldogs at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Pepperell is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.7 runs per game this season.
Pepperell's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They walked away with a 3-0 win over North Murray. The three-run effort marked the Dragons' lowest-scoring match of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.
Kaleb Davis made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other pitching news, Jayden McGinnis looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits.
Davis wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was JP Kilgo, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI. Another was Madoc Garcia, who scored a run and stole two bases.
Pepperell hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most four strikeouts in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Cedartown fell victim to Rockmart and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They lost 13-0 to the Yellowjackets. The Bulldogs haven't had much luck with the Yellowjackets recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.
Cedartown now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Pepperell, they picked up their first home victory, bumping their record up to 4-2.
Pepperell beat Cedartown 5-1 in their previous meeting back in March of 2022. Does Pepperell have another victory up their sleeve, or will Cedartown turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
