It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Burlingame Panthers ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They snuck past Sequoia with a 74-70 victory. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Alain Kazarian was his usual excellent self, scoring 28 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Burlingame's points. Marcus Tapia was another key contributor, going 6 for 10 from beyond the arc en route to 18 points and 1 assist.
The victory makes it two in a row for Burlingame and bumps their season record up to 10-8. As for Sequoia, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Burlingame will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against Half Moon Bay at 7:00 p.m. on January 24th. Half Moon Bay will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive. As for Sequoia, they will head out on the road to square off against Mills at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Mills focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Friday.
