The Lafayette Jefferson Bronchos will square off against the West Lafayette Red Devils at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Lafayette Jefferson is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.
Lafayette Jefferson barely beat Lebanon the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Bronchos' pitcher stepped up to hand the Tigers a 6-0 shutout on Tuesday. The win was nothing new for the Bronchos as they're now sitting on three straight.
Not much got past Mason Pechin, who gave up just six hits to keep Lebanon off the board. Pechin has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one walk in eight consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Austin Franklin and Asa Ritchie did most of the damage at the plate: Franklin got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Ritchie got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That's the most runs Ritchie has posted since back in April.
The home team had won the previous four meetings between West Lafayette and Rossville, and Rossville kept the tradition alive. The Red Devils fell 9-6 to the Hornets on Saturday. The Red Devils haven't had much luck with the Hornets recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.
Calvin Snyder and Korbyn Keen stepped up to the plate in a big way. Snyder went 2-for-4 with one home run, while Keen went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. Snyder has become a key player for West Lafayette: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least one home run, but 5-14 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Ben Werth, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.
West Lafayette's defeat dropped their record down to 7-15. As for Lafayette Jefferson, the victory got them back to even at 12-12.
