When it comes to explaining why Central lost, one person who can't be blamed is Lia Sims. Despite the final result, she scored 34 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. That was a full 69.4% of Central's points, marking the 19th time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Shakeira Mosley was another key contributor, scoring two points along with three steals.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Fairfax to victory, but perhaps none more so than Melanie Romero, who scored 20 points along with seven rebounds and six steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Romero has scored at least a third of Fairfax's points. Another player making a difference was Jaya Harris, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 15 rebounds.
Central has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-12 record this season. As for Fairfax, they now have a winning record of 9-8.
Central will head out on the road to challenge McClintock at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. McClintock has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 183 points over their last three games. As for Fairfax, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Sierra Linda at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Sierra Linda is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
