The Hiawatha Hawks and the Annawan Braves will round out the year against one another at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday at. Hiawatha is hoping to put an end to a 12-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Last Thursday, Hiawatha's game was all tied up 24-24 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They walked away with a 53-43 victory over Alden-Hebron. The win was just what Hiawatha needed coming off of a 82-55 defeat in their prior matchup.
Meanwhile, after a string of ten wins, Annawan's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They lost to Earlville at home by a decisive 40-26 margin. While losing is never fun, Annawan can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 223rd, while Earlville is ranked 83rd).
Hiawatha's win bumped their record up to 4-10. As for Annawan, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 10-2.
