Amaya Cron was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with three RBI and two runs.
In other batting news, Iyanna Martinez was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in August of 2024. Another player making a difference was Madison DeVault, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Greeley West kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Roosevelt got the win against Northridge on Tuesday by a conclusive 15-2.
Lexi Arave looked comfortable as she pitched four innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Molly Vetter, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, three RBI, and two doubles. She also hit a triple, marking her first of the season. Lily Wiese was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Greeley West's victory bumped their record up to 12-9. As for Roosevelt, their win bumped their record up to 14-7.
Wednesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Greeley West hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .403. However, it's not like Roosevelt struggles in that department as they've averaged .396. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Greeley West took their victory against Roosevelt when the teams last played back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 7-1 score. Do the Spartans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Roughriders turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
