Sonora has enjoyed the comforts of home their last four games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against the Calaveras Red Hawks at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Calaveras took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Sonora, who comes in off a win.
Sonora scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They strolled past Argonaut with points to spare, taking the game 54-36. That looming 54-36 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Sonora yet this season.
Sonora's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Adeline Hanson, who scored 15 points along with six assists and six steals, and Taylor Faught, who scored 21 points along with seven rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Faught has scored all season. Isabella Ahrens was another key contributor, scoring six points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Calaveras has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. The matchup between Calaveras and Amador wasn't particularly close, with Calaveras falling 42-26.
The win got Sonora back to even at 10-10. As for Calaveras, their loss dropped their record down to 12-5.
Things could have been worse for Sonora, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 53-38 loss to Calaveras in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. Can Sonora avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
