Basketball Game Preview: Bishop Alemany Warriors vs. Harvard-Westlake Wolverines

Bishop Alemany hasn't had much luck against Harvard-Westlake recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Bishop Alemany Warriors will be home for the holidays to greet the Harvard-Westlake Wolverines at 5:00 p.m.

Bishop Alemany's tournament run continued when they took on St. Monica on Thursday. Bishop Alemany lost to St. Monica on the road by a 61-44 margin. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 498th, while the Mariners are ranked 37th).

Despite the loss, Bishop Alemany saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Briana Lopez went 5 of 10 on her way to 16 points along with five boards and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Lopez has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophia Vasquez, who posted eight points.

Meanwhile, Harvard-Westlake waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They walked away with a 57-49 win over the Wildcats.

Harvard-Westlake's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-2. As for Bishop Alemany, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-8.

Bishop Alemany came up short against Harvard-Westlake in their previous meeting back in January, falling 50-44. Can Bishop Alemany avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
