The McConnellsburg Spartans's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their seventh straight loss. They received a tough blow as they fell 40-24 to Forbes Road. McConnellsburg was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Forbes Road apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Forbes Road's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Taylor Small, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds. Katie Hess was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with 13 rebounds.
McConnellsburg's defeat was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 2-9. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 22.3 points per game. As for Forbes Road, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. McConnellsburg will face off against Fannett Metal at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Forbes Road will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Southern Fulton at 7:30 p.m. on January 11th.
