The Union Area Scotties lost against the Blackhawk Cougars last Wednesday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Union Area took a 43-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of Blackhawk. While losing is never fun, Union Area can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 166th, while Blackhawk is ranked 40th).
Blackhawk's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Aubree Hupp, who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. The game was Hupp's seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alena Fusetti, who scored 17 points along with three steals.
Union Area now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Blackhawk, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season.
Union Area will head out on the road to face off against Aquinas Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Aquinas Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight on Thursday. As for Blackhawk, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Central Valley at 7:30 p.m. on January 3, 2024.
