Basketball Game Preview: Burroughs Bears vs. Bishop Alemany Warriors

The Burroughs Bears and the Bishop Alemany Warriors will face off at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.

Bishop Alemany is hoping to do what Sherman Oaks CES couldn't on Friday: put an end to Burroughs' winning streak, which now stands at three games. Burroughs claimed a resounding 70-28 win over Sherman Oaks CES. That 42 point margin sets a new team best for the Bears this season.

Burroughs found their leader in freshman Isabella Amayakyan, who went 6 for 11 on her way to 14 points in addition to seven boards and five assists. The dominant performance gave Amayakyan a new career-high in rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Polina Gorgeiz, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bishop Alemany). They took their game on Friday with ease, bagging a 79-42 victory over Lakeview Charter. The Warriors have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 21 points or more this season.

Bishop Alemany is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 7-9 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.8 points per game. As for Burroughs, their win bumped their record up to 11-6.

Burroughs strolled past Bishop Alemany in their previous matchup back in December of 2024 by a score of 67-53. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Bishop Alemany's Lauren Arce, who went 7 of 17 on her way to 27 points.
