While John Milledge Academy's win against Heritage wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Cohen Brooks looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024.
On the hitting side, John Milledge Academy saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Will Adams, who scored a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Piedmont Academy came up short against Strong Rock Christian on Saturday and fell 8-5.
Brayden Ross made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as he's now launched at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jack Adams, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
John Milledge Academy pushed their record up to 8-2 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. Tuesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. John Milledge Academy has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .448. However, it's not like Piedmont Academy struggles in that department as they've averaged .439. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went John Milledge Academy's way against Piedmont Academy in their previous matchup back in April of 2022, as John Milledge Academy made off with a 10-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for John Milledge Academy since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
