Berkeley is preparing for their first league matchup of the season on Wednesday. They will be playing in front of their home fans against the Alameda Hornets at 4:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Alameda will be up against a hot Berkeley team: the squad just extended their winning streak to six. The Yellowjackets never let James Logan get on the board and left with a 9-0 win on Friday. With that victory, the Yellowjackets brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.
Quinton Hill made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. Hill was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
In other pitching news, Ezra Brilliant got the start for Berkeley and what a start it was: he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Brilliant has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Isaiah Mays, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with four stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Julian Adorador was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
While Alameda didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. Everything went their way against Freedom on Saturday as they made off with an 11-3 win. The victory continues a trend for the Hornets in their matchups with the Falcons: they've now won three in a row.
Alameda also got a great performance from Carter Grant as he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits.
At the plate, Archer Schullstrom was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Carson Lopez, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Berkeley's win bumped their record up to 7-1-1. As for Alameda, their victory bumped their record up to 7-2.
Berkeley beat Alameda 3-0 when the teams last played back in March of 2025. Do the Yellowjackets have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Hornets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
