The Berks Catholic Saints won the last time they faced the Muhlenberg Muhls, and things went their way on Thursday too. Berks Catholic strolled past the Muhls with points to spare, taking the game 36-20. Given Berks Catholic's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 212th, while the Muhls are ranked 450th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Berks Catholic to victory were Gianna Mirenda and Sydney Corado. Mirenda dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 rebounds, while Corado scored seven points along with 11 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Langdon, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and three steals.
The victory got Berks Catholic back to even at 7-7. As for Muhlenberg, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 12 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Berks Catholic will square off against the Fighting Irish at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Muhlenberg, they will head out on the road to challenge the Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The timing is sure in Wilson's favor as the squad sits on four straight wins at home while the Muhls have been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.
