Salpointe Catholic is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Tucson High Magnet School: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Salpointe Catholic blew Tucson High Magnet School out of the water with a 69-39 final score. The Lancers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 15 contests by 22 points or more this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Salpointe Catholic to victory, but perhaps none more so than Allison Even, who went 6 of 14 on her way to 13 points and five rebounds. Hannah Williams was another key player, going 9 for 16 en route to 19 points and six boards.
Salpointe Catholic smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Sahuaro was able to grind out a solid win over Ironwood Ridge on Thursday, taking the game 44-36. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Cougars.
Salpointe Catholic better keep an eye on Biale Sika. She was instrumental in Sahuaro's win, going 8 of 11 on her way to 17 points and five rebounds. Those 17 points gave Sika a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Carly Coolidge, who posted six points and five boards.
Sahuaro has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 15 of their last 17 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 20-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.9 points per game. As for Salpointe Catholic, their victory was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 22-4.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Salpointe Catholic has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 31.1 rebounds per game.
