Two dominant signal callers in Graylyn Fry and Deuce Timmons are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Panther Creek Panthers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Sulphur Springs Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Jalen Lott had another great game (as he tends to do), picking up 220 receiving yards and three TDs. Those 220 receiving yards gave him a new career-high. Donovan Webb was another key receiver, picking up 75 receiving yards and one touchdown.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Panther Creek's defense and their six sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Parker Ord and Donovan Odum, who racked up all six sacks between them. Elyon White was another major factor on D, forcing one fumble, making seven total tackles (1.0 for loss), and defending one pass.
Meanwhile, Sulphur Springs made easy work of Lake Dallas on Friday and carried off a 38-14 win. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 58th, while the Falcons are ranked 310th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.
Panther Creek better keep an eye on Jaxson Haire. He was instrumental in Sulphur Springs' win, rushing for 167 yards and one score while picking up 9.3 yards per carry, and also picking up 79 receiving yards and a pair of TDs. Another player making a difference was Mason Cooper, who threw for 141 yards and three touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes.
Sulphur Springs' run defense was locked in: Lake Dallas could only muster three yards per carry. The team can thank Alex McCormick for the heroic effort on defense: he. Sulphur Springs didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 7.1.
Sulphur Springs didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Matthew Jeter and Jio Ibarra. Ibarra got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Sulphur Springs' victory bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Panther Creek, their win bumped their record up to an identical 8-1.
The upcoming matchup will be a clash of competing strengths. Panther Creek has relied on air attacks this season and has averaged 302.9 passing yards per game. Sulphur Springs, on the other hand, has relied on a stout run game: they average 203.6 rushing yards per game. So which strategy will prevail on Friday? There's only one way to find out.
