While Higbee's win against Wellsville-Middletown wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Higbee skirted past Wellsville-Middletown 10-9. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for Higbee considering their one-run performance the contest before.
Corbin Imhoff was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Cale Nelson and Tyler Diederich did most of the damage at the plate: Nelson went 1-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Diederich got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run and one RBI. That's the most runs Nelson has posted since back in May of 2025. Chase Price was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Marion County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their 12th straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against Louisiana, falling 17-5. On the bright side, the five- run performance marked the Mustangs' highest-scoring matchup to date.
Higbee's record is now 5-17-1. As for Marion County, their loss dropped their record down to 0-11.
Higbee came out on top in a nail-biter against Marion County when the teams last played back in May of 2025, sneaking past 9-8.
