The Mingo Central Miners's game last Tuesday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 62-30 win over Tolsia at home. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Mingo Central has posted since December 21, 2023.
Addie Smith was her usual excellent self, almost dropping a triple-double on 17 points, nine rebounds, and 12 assists. That's the first time this season that she pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Gianna Akers, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds.
Mingo Central's win was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-4. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.6 points per game. As for Tolsia, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season.
Mingo Central will head out on the road to square off against Mountain Mission at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Mountain Mission is coming into the contest on a five-game losing streak. As for Tolsia, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Hurley at 2:00 p.m. Hurley will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in their respective state's rankings (they are ranked 372nd in Virginia, while Tolsia is ranked 96th in West Virginia).
