Xavier Prep's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Grace Thomsen led the charge by scoring 17 points along with three blocks. Those 17 points set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Amoree Ferrel, who scored nine points along with eight assists and five steals.
Rancho Mirage's loss was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-8. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 14.2 points per game. As for Xavier Prep, their victory bumped their record up to 12-3.
Rancho Mirage will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Brawley at 10:15 a.m. on Thursday. Xavier Prep and Vaughn will round out the year against one another at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday at. Vaughn will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 1035th, while Xavier Prep is ranked 157th).
