Coachella Valley extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to five on Tuesday, dropping them down to 0-4. They lost 17-11 to the Yucca Valley Trojans. Even if the Mighty Arabs couldn't come away with the victory, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.
Isaac Mu?oz and Jacob Nava stepped up to the plate in a big way. Mu?oz went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI, while Nava went 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Rey Figueroa, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
As for Yucca Valley, they moved to 2-3 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. With that victory, they brought their scoring average up to 7.8 runs per game.
On Yucca Valley's side, Hezekiah Roses was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up three earned runs off seven hits. Roses has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his five plate appearances with two runs.
In other batting news, Aiden Shannon was a standout: he went 1-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those RBI marked the first that he has brought in this season. Another player making a difference was Hamilton Lewis, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double.
Coachella Valley didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 6-5 win against Banning on the 11th. Hopefully Yucca Valley paid attention to the Mighty Arabs' game: the next time they hit the field , they'll take on the Mighty Arabs at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
