Merrit Teixeira looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Sebastian Ultreras was a standout: he went 1-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. That home run marked the first that he launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Mullen, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Bishop O'Dowd kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, Acalanes was not the first on the board last Saturday, but they got there more often. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Marin Catholic, sneaking past 8-7.
Acalanes also got a great performance from Austin McMannamon as he didn't allow a single earned run over 5.2 innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave McMannamon a new career-high in strikeouts (five).
At the plate, Drew Asadorian was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was James Stadt, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Bishop O'Dowd pushed their record up to 4-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Acalanes, they now have a winning record of 2-1-1.
Acalanes' hitters will have their work cut out for them on Saturday. Bishop O'Dowd has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.8 strikeouts per game.
