Softball Recap: Newnan Wins Going Away Against Morrow

Newnan's game on Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 17-1 margin over the Morrow Mustangs. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won nine contests by ten runs or more so far this season.

Piper Willey looked comfortable as she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, she posted five strikeouts, the most she's had since back in August.

At the plate, Khloe Walker was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one home run the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Aubree Webb, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

The win got Newnan back to even at 10-10. As for Morrow, they dropped their record down to 1-11 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight at home.

Looking ahead, Newnan will challenge Starr's Mill at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Panthers will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Cougars surely won't give up without a fight. As for Morrow, they will take on Sandy Creek at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
