Baseball Recap: Aquinas Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Victory

Aquinas came tearing into Thursday's match with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Arrowhead Christian Eagles as they made off with a 13-3 win. Considering the Falcons have won eight contests by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Hayden Vanderhoof tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jacob Bitonti, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Estaban Olazaba, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.

Aquinas kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Arrowhead Christian only managed four hits.

Aquinas' victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-2. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.1 runs over those games. As for Arrowhead Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-11.

Coincidentally, Aquinas and Arrowhead Christian will both be playing Linfield Christian the next time they take the field. The Falcons will host the Lions at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, while the Eagles will head out to face them at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
