The Serrano Diamondbacks's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They took a 38-28 hit to the loss column at the hands of Hesperia. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Serrano of the 48-30 loss they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture on January 3rd.
Hesperia's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Berlynn Miramontes led the charge by scoring 19 points along with four steals. That makes it six consecutive games in which Miramontes has scored at least a third of Hesperia's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jocelyne Lerma, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Serrano bumped their record down to 8-12 with that loss, which was their sixth straight at home. As for Hesperia, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 10-13 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Serrano will face off against Apple Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Hesperia, they will head out on the road to challenge Burroughs at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Burroughs has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 208 points over their last three matches.
