Columbine came tearing into Monday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Chatfield Chargers as they made off with a 16-2 win. Considering the Rebels have won six games by more than nine runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Shalee Trujillo made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. What's more, she posted four strikeouts, the most she's had over her last ten matches. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mason Abraham, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last 11 contests. Nina Vargas also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
