Kennedy and Wasco are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2018, but not for long. The Kennedy Thunderbirds will be playing in front of their home fans against the Wasco Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Kennedy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Wednesday.
Kennedy can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game. They enjoyed a cozy 43-29 victory over Delano. The victory was just what Kennedy needed coming off of a 47-23 defeat in their prior match.
Kennedy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Valeria Payan-Medina out in front who dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds. Payan-Medina is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Imaree Curry, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and five steals.
Meanwhile, Wasco's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their eighth straight loss. Their tough 59-34 defeat to Rosamond might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, Wasco can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1284th, while Rosamond is ranked 531st).
Kennedy's win bumped their record up to 9-12. As for Wasco, they dropped their record down to 3-18 with that defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road.
Everything went Kennedy's way against Wasco when the teams last played on January 8th as Kennedy made off with a 57-32 win. Does Kennedy have another victory up their sleeve, or will Wasco turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
