If Gateway Christian was riding high  fresh off their  58-6 takedown of Cloudcroft last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Warriors took  a  44-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Escalante Lobos on Friday. The Warriors were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lobos apparently hadn't forgotten their  loss the last time these teams played  back in August of 2024.
  Julio Lujan had a dynamite game For Escalante., picking up 178 receiving yards and three  touchdowns. Lujan really caught the secondary sleeping when he pulled down a catch that went for 70 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of  Braylon Emery, who threw for 273 yards and a pair of  TDs while completing 83.3% of his passes.
Gateway Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Escalante,  the  victory also got them back to even at 1-1.
 Both  teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gateway Christian will get a bit of extra time to process the  loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Lordsburg at 6:00  p.m.  on  the 12th. As for Escalante, they will head out to  challenge Dulce  at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday.
