Last Monday, Waynesboro ended up a good deal behind South Western and lost 52-34. While losing is never fun, Waynesboro can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 246th, while South Western is ranked 101st).
Selinsgrove has not had quite the year their fans were hoping for to this point, but back-to-back wins may be a sign of good things to come. They enjoyed a cozy 43-28 victory over Mifflinburg on Friday.
Selinsgrove's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kristin Shaffer led the charge by scoring 15 points along with seven rebounds. Shaffer set a new season high mark in blocks with two. The team also got some help courtesy of Natalie Howell, who scored 17 points.
Waynesboro's defeat dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Selinsgrove, their victory bumped their record up to 2-6.
