Basketball Game Preview: Rio Hondo Prep Kares vs. Westridge Tigers

Rio Hondo Prep has gone 9-1 against Westridge recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Rio Hondo Prep Kares will take on the Westridge Tigers in a holiday battle at at 5:30 p.m. Rio Hondo Prep will be strutting in after a win while Westridge will be coming in after a loss.

Rio Hondo Prep took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They came out on top against Chadwick by a score of 42-31.

TARA RILEY was her usual excellent self, going 7 for 14 on her way to 17 points and six steals. Her afternoon made it five games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of BRYCE JOHNSON, who posted 11 points and five rebounds.

Meanwhile, Westridge was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a blow against Flintridge Prep, falling 71-13. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1001st, while the Wolves are ranked 20th).

Rio Hondo Prep pushed their record up to 4-2 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.4 points per game. As for Westridge, their loss dropped their record down to 1-5.

Everything came up roses for Rio Hondo Prep against Westridge in their previous meeting back in January, as the team secured a 61-29 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Rio Hondo Prep since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
