Design Tech is 0-10 against Summit Shasta since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Design Tech Dragons will head out on the road to take on the Summit Shasta Black Bears at 7:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Design Tech had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Pescadero with a sharp 35-9 win. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 27-2.
Jewel Wilson was her usual excellent self, scoring 19 points.
Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Summit Shasta over The Nueva School in every quarter on their way to victory on Monday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Summit Shasta blew The Nueva School out of the water with a 75-11 final score. Given Summit Shasta's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 416th, while The Nueva School is ranked 1091st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Design Tech's win bumped their record up to 9-7. As for Summit Shasta, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-4 record this season.
Design Tech was taken down by Summit Shasta 67-19 when the teams last played back in January. Can Design Tech avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
