It was a good run, but the Waynesburg Central Raiders unfortunately witnessed the end of their ten-game winning streak on Monday. They took a 53-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of South Park. Waynesburg Central was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as South Park apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January.
Waynesburg Central lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Josie Horne, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds. Another player making a difference was Kaley Rohanna, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds.
Waynesburg Central's defeat ended an 18-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 18-2. As for South Park, their win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-6.
Waynesburg Central will square off against Brownsville at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Waynesburg Central focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Monday. As for South Park, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Yough at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Yough will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings (they are ranked 457th, while South Park is ranked 172nd).
