The Central Spartans lost against the Yuma Catholic Shamrocks back in November of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Central took a 51-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of Yuma Catholic. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Central in their matchups with Yuma Catholic: they've now lost nine in a row.
Central's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Victoria Zamora, who scored 14 points along with four steals, and Mya McClain who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. Zamora is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Madelyn Morquecho was another key contributor, scoring four points along with two steals.

That makes it seven consecutive games in which Wiley has scored at least a third of Yuma Catholic's points. Another player making a difference was Kimora Coleman, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Central has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season. As for Yuma Catholic, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-7.
