Otto-Eldred is 10-0 against Smethport since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. The Otto-Eldred Terrors will be playing at home against the Smethport Hubbers at 7:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Monday, Otto-Eldred had to suffer through a rough 56-29 loss at the hands of Redbank Valley. While losing is never fun, Otto-Eldred can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 365th, while Redbank Valley is ranked 119th).
Despite the loss, Otto-Eldred saw an underclassman step up: Rayel Hakes scored seven points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Smethport lost to Johnsonburg on the road by a decisive 58-42 margin on Monday. Smethport has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Otto-Eldred's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-8. As for Smethport, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-15.
Otto-Eldred didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Smethport in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, but they still walked away with a 41-37 win. Does Otto-Eldred have another victory up their sleeve, or will Smethport turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
