Basketball Recap: Saturday's Win Is Arcata's Seventh in Last Nine Outings

Arcata saw some tournament action on Saturday. They came out on top against the University Red Devils by a score of 60-51. With that win, the Tigers brought their scoring average up to 50.3 points per game.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Arcata to victory, but perhaps none more so than Mae Wolford, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. Wolford is becoming a predictor of Arcata's success: when she posts at least ten rebounds the team is 6-1 (and 2-4 when she doesn't). Mayleah Jackson was another key player, putting up 15 points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Arcata has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.4 points per game. As for University, their loss dropped their record down to 4-4.

Arcata will face off against Pleasant Valley on Saturday. Arcata is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.3 points per game this season. University and El Toro will round out the year against one another at at 12:30 p.m. on Monday.
