Baseball Recap: Hercules Comes Up Short

Hercules extended their losing streak to six on Wednesday, dropping them down to 2-14. They fell 5-2 to the Albany Cougars. The Titans were not able to make up for their loss to the Cougars from their previous meeting back in March of 2025.

Cameron Solis made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and one run. Hercules is 2-1 when Solis posts two or more stolen bases, but 0-13 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Cayden Tennyson, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.

As for Albany, they pushed their record up to 12-6 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games.

On Albany's side, Willem Loveless made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. Loveless has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

In other pitching news, Remy Norris looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Dexter Johnson, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Mori Peskin also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

While Hercules had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
