The East Nicolaus Spartans will face off against the Quincy Trojans at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as East Nicolaus comes in on four and Quincy on five.
East Nicolaus will bounce into Thursday's matchup after beating Pierce, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. East Nicolaus escaped with a win on Thursday against Pierce by the margin of a single free throw, 46-45.
East Nicolaus' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Makinze Massey, who posted 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooklyn Hall, who had 13 points.
Meanwhile, you're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for Quincy on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew Hamilton out of the water with a 63-13 final score. The Trojans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 games by 22 points or more this season.
East Nicolaus better keep an eye on Shelby Nussle. She was instrumental in Quincy's win, dropping a double-double with 18 points and 15 boards. The contest was Nussle's third in a row with at least 18 points. Another player making a difference was Hana Hostetter, who earned 19 points.
Quincy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 15 offensive boards in five consecutive matchups.
Quincy pushed their record up to 19-5 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 23.8 points over those games. As for East Nicolaus, their victory bumped their record up to 17-11.
