The Pender Patriots lost against the Wallace-Rose Hill Bulldogs back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Pender was the victim of a tough 67-45 loss at the hands of Wallace-Rose Hill. Pender has not had much luck with Wallace-Rose Hill recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Pender's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Demarius White, who scored eight points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points White has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Malcolm Driver, who scored seven points.
KaShawn Scarbrough was the offensive standout of the match as he scored 15 points. That's the first time this season that he scored 15 or more points. Jamarae Lamb was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Pender's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Wallace-Rose Hill, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-3.
Pender won't have much time to rest: their next match is against New Bern at 7:00 p.m. on December 29th. New Bern presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Pender in North Carolina (New Bern is ranked 158th, while Pender is ranked 331st). Wallace-Rose Hill and Goldsboro will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 3, 2024 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Goldsboro has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 721 points over their last ten matches.
