Baseball Recap: Bret Harte Makes It Seven in a Row at Home

There's no place like home for Bret Harte, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They blew past the Riverbank Bruins 6-0 on Tuesday.

Uriah Gish was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, Sean Poortinga was excellent, scoring a run while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Bret Harte pushed their record up to 10-6 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Riverbank, they are on a 16-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-11.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Bret Harte beat the Bruins by a score of 6-1 later that day.
