Baseball Recap: Venice Now 18-1 over Last 19 Games

There's no place like home for Venice, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They never let the University Wildcats get on the board and left with a 14-0 victory on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Gondoliers, who have now won 17 contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Noel Moreno looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched.

At the plate, Daniel Quiroz was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Ryan Shepard, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Venice always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as University only posted an OBP of .211.

Venice has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 18 of their last 19 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 25-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.2 runs over those games. As for University, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-15.
