Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Santa Teresa, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Leland on Friday, sneaking past 3-2. The victory was some much needed relief for the Saints as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Kaden Kott spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits. He is becoming a predictor of Santa Teresa's success: when he allows at most two earned runs the team is 3-1 (and 6-9 when he doesn't).
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Daichi Sagae, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
Santa Teresa's win bumped their record up to 9-10. As for Leigh, their loss dropped their record down to 16-4.
Santa Teresa's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Leigh has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .477. It's a different story for Santa Teresa, though, as they've only averaged .350. Will they be able to contain Leigh's hitters?
Everything went Leigh's way against Santa Teresa when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Leigh made off with a 16-6 victory. Will the Longhorns repeat their success, or do the Saints have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
