On Tuesday, it was a hard-fought matchup, but Elkhorn Valley had to settle for a 42-39 loss against Cedar Catholic. Elkhorn Valley has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Elkhorn Valley's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Jj Black, who scored eight points along with 19 rebounds and four blocks, and Lily Hartl who scored ten points along with two steals. Black is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down ten or more in the last eight games she's played.
Elkhorn Valley has not been sharp recently as the team's lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-7 record this season. As for Cedar Catholic, they now have a winning record of 9-8.
Elkhorn Valley's road trip will continue as they head out to face St. Francis at 6:00 p.m. on February 9th. Hopefully Elkhorn Valley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 32 on Tuesday. As for Cedar Catholic, they will be playing at home against Battle Creek at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Cedar Catholic will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Nebraska Rankings (they are ranked 102nd, while Battle Creek is ranked 33rd).
