Ralston hasn't had much luck against Platteview recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Rams will square off against the Trojans at 5:30 p.m.
Ralston is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Mercy on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Rams were beaten by the Monarchs 52-13. The Rams were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 31-4.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Addie Aude, who posted seven points along with six rebounds and four steals. That was a full 53.8% of Ralston's points, marking the fifth time in a row Aude has earned more than a third of the team's points.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Platteview, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They managed a 51-45 win over Duchesne on Tuesday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last seven times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Platteview's win came from a few key players that Ralston will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Kady Vanosdall, who shot 50% from the field on her way to 15 points and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddy Stukenholtz, who scored 15 points and five steals.
Platteview was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. They are 11-3 when they've passed the ball that well.
Platteview pushed their record up to 12-9 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.3 points over those games. As for Ralston, their loss dropped their record down to 0-16.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Ralston has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 25.6 boards per game. However, it's not like Platteview struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 31.1 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Ralston was dealt a bruising 55-17 defeat at the hands of Platteview when the teams last played back in February of 2025. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Trojans' Brooklyn Stehlik, who went 6-for-7 to rack up 12 points in addition to seven boards and three steals.
